I need help, where to start?

I have a 1990 gold wing gl1500 and I plan to have another passenger on board, my son. Since he's too young to ride I want to install a trike kit to my bike, but I have no idea where to start. Are these kits specific toa model or are universal? What kind of modifications am I looking at? I'm not a newbie with mods and working on bikes, so I'm trying to figure out if I can do this myself or I'll need to go take it to a pro

There are some kits that fit a GL1500 Goldwing that you can install yourself. Roadsmith and DFT are two of them. If you don't feel up up the job there is Hannigan, California Side Car (CSC), MotorTrike.
Now here come choices: Do you want long wheelbase or short? Auxiliary fuel cell? You certainly want rakes triple trees. Motortrike shows at their website solid axle kits for the GL1500.
Have you visited a trike shop in your area to take a test ride?

Man that's a lot of questions here. Pros and cons for the wheelbase? The additional fuel cell should come in handy I guess. And thanks for the trike shop recommendation. Since I was planning on doing this myself, I didn't through it would be a good idea to consult with the professionals, even if it's jut a consult

I'd like to do it myself because I have the tools and the space, but I need to find a kit. If I'm going custom, I'll let someone else figure things out. Talked to a local mechanic, said he'll reach out to me with some recomendations.

I did a diy install at home a coupld of years ago and trust me, it wasn't as fun as it looks on TV. First off, I was at it for over a week, because I couldn't afford to spend an entire day in the garage. The second problem was that I had some alignment issues, so I had to take it to a shop to have it fixed. My advice is let the pros take care of it. I understand the joy of doing something yourself, but it's not always worth it

Was your conversion done on a Goldwing or Harley Davidson?
If it was an HD touring bike, you must do a power train alignment prior to becoming a trike.
